Bathroom & Toilet Check
A bathroom is fixed by the plumbing stack and almost never worth relocating. So this puts eight of fourteen points on damp, ventilation and the door habit — the things that genuinely can be changed.
About the Bathroom
Why This Scores What It Scores
A bathroom is fixed by the building's plumbing stack. Relocating one is almost never practical in a flat and rarely proportionate even in a house.
So the zone carries only three of fourteen points here, while damp, the door habit and ventilation carry eight between them — because those are the things a household can genuinely change, and because they matter more in practice than most people expect.
The Preferred Zones
The north-west and west are the traditional placements, the north-west being associated with movement and elimination. The south is acceptable.
The north-east is the placement most consistently cautioned against, since that zone is the one the tradition most protects. The south-west and the south-east are also not preferred, for different reasons — the south-west wants weight and stability, and the south-east is the fire zone.
A North-East Bathroom
This is the finding people arrive most worried about, and the answer is straightforward: relocating is almost never practical, and it is almost never recommended.
What carries the weight instead is a short and genuinely effective list. Keep the door closed. Use correctional light colour in the space. Place a bowl of sea salt and replace it regularly. Keep the space scrupulously clean. Ensure ventilation actually works. Fix any damp immediately.
A household doing those six things in a north-east bathroom is in a better position than one with a perfectly placed bathroom that leaks and stays shut. That is not a consolation — it reflects how the tradition weighs cleanliness and dryness against placement.
Damp Matters More Than Direction
This is worth its own section because it is the finding most often overlooked.
Damp and leakage in a bathroom is a Vastu finding, a maintenance problem, a health issue and an expense waiting to grow. It spreads into adjoining walls, it costs real money to repair once established, and it is a finding in every framework there is.
If a bathroom in your home has damp, that is the correction to make first, before anything to do with colour, salt or direction.
The Door Habit
Keeping the bathroom door closed is free, it is the single most cited correction for a badly placed bathroom, and it takes about a week to become automatic in a household.
It matters most where the door faces something specific — the kitchen, the puja area, the main entrance, or the head of a bed on the other side of the wall. In each of those cases a closed door handles most of what the tradition asks for.
What Faces the Door
A bathroom facing the kitchen is traditionally avoided and is a hygiene point as well. A bathroom facing the puja area is worth addressing — and since a puja space needs very little room, moving the shelf is usually far easier than anything to do with the bathroom.
A bathroom facing the main entrance is common in flats and handled with a screen, a curtain or a closed door. A bathroom sharing a wall with the head of a bed is traditionally avoided, and moving the bed within the room costs nothing.
Want This Checked Properly?
These tools cover the findings that account for most of what a real assessment turns up, and they are free. What they cannot do is take a compass reading at the centre of your property, see your actual layout, or tell you which two or three corrections matter most for your home rather than in general.
